Long before she was selling out global stadiums and flying through the air on aerial silks, Alecia was a broken, rebellious teenager running hard into the darkest depths of the 1990s counter-culture scene. By the time she was a teenager, she was already deep in the fire, experimenting with lethal substances to numb the trauma of her childhood and the pain of her parents' divorce.
THE THANKSGIVING NIGHTMARE
On Thanksgiving weekend in 1995, at just 16 years old, Alecia hit the ultimate brick wall. At a club rave, she consumed a toxic, chaotic cocktail of hard drugs—including crystal meth, ecstasy, PCP, and acid. Her body couldn't take it. She collapsed into a severe, near-fatal overdose.
That terrifying night inside the rave scene wasn't just a bottom; it was her defining moment of truth. As she fought her way back from the brink of death, she looked the monster of drug addiction right in the eye and drew a permanent line in the sand.
She chose life. She quit hard drugs cold turkey right then and there, and she never touched them again.
